 | Ari
Ari is a 3 year old red point longhaired cat. He came from the RSPCA and was due to be euthanased due to the infectious diseases he had caught there. We chose not to due to his beautiful nature and adopted him instead. Ari is very loving and friendly and loves to sit in the bosses chair. Ari lives with Poppy at the hospital.

Other medical history.
Ari came to us from the RSPCA where he had acquired both ringworm and cat flu. Both of these diseases required prolonged treatment before he recovered, so they had chosen to euthanase him rather than treat him. We chose to treat him.
Both Poppy and Ari have very pale skin, so in addition to all the other reasons for keeping cats indoors they have the additional reason that if allowed outside they would get sun burnt and ultimately skin cancer.

 | Bapi
Bapi is a Centralian Carpet python.
Origin:Bapi was captive bred and is hypomelanistic. (which means he has comparatively little black pigment compared to other pythons of his species.)

 | Bardi
Bardi is a 6 year old smokey ginger male cat. He likes to eat and sleep and sit on books that are being read.
Origin: Abandoned as a kitten.

Bardi was born a cryptorchid (both testicles were up near his kidneys) and has a short twisted knob for a tail. This is a form of spina bifida and bardi walks with a unusual gait and is quite clumsy.

 | Bella
Bella is a 3 legged Heeler cross from the Pilbara in WA.
Origin: Bella was brought in by her then owner to be euthanased after being hit by a car with a broken leg, fractured pelvis & head injuries. The vet fell in love with her and decided to adopt her. The leg could not be saved though and had to be amputated.

Heartworm and intestinal worm prevention: Prohart sr –12 & drontals chewables monthly during the wet season, three monthly during the dry season.
Flea control: Frontline & tick injections.

Other medical history. Despite her three legs bella gets around very well as does most three leggers.

 | Billy
Billy is a 2 year old male german shorthaired pointer cross.
Origin: Billy came from Darwin Pound. Billy arrived with a damaged front leg with an infected joint.

Billy's leg has healed well.
Billy has had a Fibrolipoma (benine facial tumor) removed from his face, but remains extremely handsome.

 | Cat
Cat's name is actually cat. Cat is a 2 year old russian blue cross cat. He came from PAWS. He came in as a stray 3 week old kitten with cat flu. He was due to be euthanased. His ownwer chose not to due to his beautiful nature and adopted him instead.

 | Chichi
Chichi is a 4 year old lutino cockatiel. She is a very happy bird despite having a permanently deformed foot. When she was young her owners pet rats got out and chewed her foot. While it was possible to save the foot it is not perfect. Chichi has learnt to giggle exactly like her owner.

 | Chopper
Chopper is a 9 month old black desexed male domestic rat.
Origin: Adopted from the prison.
Desexed. Yes. Pet rats should be desexed. It extends their life span greatly, reduces their smell and prevents unwanted breeding.
Other medical history.
Chopper developed a Pasturella infection which gave him a head tilt. He copes very well but just walks a little funny.

Cricket is a 4 year old long haired chihuahua. She is very spoilt by her owner and needs to diet.

 | Delilah
Delilah is a 9 year old Black & white shorthaired cat. She was a stray in Birmingham (England) in 2005 and was due to be euthanased. She was malnourished, dehydrated and covered in ticks with horrendous diarrhoea. It was originally thought she was very old and possibly suffering a thyroid problem.
Origin: Stray - England (yes she purrs with an accent!).

Diet: Royal Canin - light dry food and obesity Sachets.
Other medical history.
Delilah has a long medical history. She was found with some neurological problems and walks a little strangely! She suffers itchy ears from allergens. She also has calici virus which causes mild ulcers on her tongue and the occassional very smelly breath (which you cant avoid as she loves to rub noses together!)
Delilah was a very brave cat and survived a 24hour flight followed by a month in quarantine to follow her owner across the world back to Darwin! She now loves her new personal garden and the heat after having to be an indoor cat in a small flat in chilly England.

Gilbert is a 7 year old female Inland bearded dragon.

Gilbert has been very healthy so far. Like all Bearded dragons he requires a proper diet with plenty of calcium, vit D3 and UV light.

Jessie is a 2 year old female heeler X.
Origin: Arrived as a stray in a storm. Her original owners were tracked down but had left town and didn't want her anymore.

Lepto is a retired Greyhound. She lives at the clinic and is much loved by all the staff. She gets on great with Poppy and Ari who also live there. She loves food and is always on the look out for any treats.

Lilly is 2 year old desexed chocolate tokinese. She was a stray kitten. She is an indoor only cat but loves to escape and run away. As a result Lilly wears a very cool GPS tracker so she can be found. She also likes to chew power cords.

Lilu is a 5 year old staffy cross. She came in to the clinic for euthanasia because she was unwanted but the vet asked the owner if she could keep her.

Mr Ruffles is a 1 year old Eastern Water dragon. He orignially came from a private breeder.

Poppy is a 2 year old red point bicolour cat. She was a feral kitten and brought to us by the RSPCA to euthanase. We chose not to and adopted her instead. Poppy is very actively friendly but her early feral upbringing does occasionally reveal it’s self when she gets cross. Poppy loves people, playing hide and seek and smooching big dogs.Poppy, together with Ari live at the hospital.

Skittles is a Children's python.
Origin:Skittles was captive bred.

Other medical history.
Skittles developed severe mouthrot (necrotic stomatitis)which his previous owner declined to treat, so he was adopted by a staff member who treated it. While it has healed well since it was so severe the mouth has been permanently damaged and is a little bent. Despite this he gets along fine and eats really well.

Spazz is a 8 year old domestic shorthaired cat. He came in as a stray for euthanasia but instead the vet decided to keep him.

Templeton is about 1 year old Chihuahua and came in as a stray from darwin City council pound. Nobody claimed him and one of staff members decided to adopt him through our PAWS program.

Waark is a 2 year old red tailed black cockatoo. She was captive bred.
Origin: Captive bred at feathers sanctuary.

External parasite treatment (If she ever catches them) Avian insect liquidator.
Diet: Parrot pellets, and a wide variety of other foods including brocolli, beans, peas, peanuts, almonds, bean shoots, etc.
Waark loves to tease people and really enjoys shouting at people to make them jump. She also loves being affectionate and sitting on shoulders of people she likes.

Wark has been very healthy so far, she has a life expectancy of 80+ years.

Wheels is a 5yo black kelpie cross. She was found by the side of the road in Karratha as a puppy with a broken femur. A man brought her into the clinic and paid for all her surgery, but in the end couldn't keep her, so I did! It all worked out OK for him, though, he started dating one of the vet nurses and last I heard they were engaged.

 | Ziggy
Ziggy is an adolescent emu who thinks he is a human. Ziggy is one of 6 emus of varying ages. They are captive bred and roam around on 5 acres. Ziggy however prefers human company than his own kind and is quite a character.
Food: Ziggy along with the other emus eats a diverse diet mostly of mixed grains with lots of greens. He also helps himself to the odd chook egg.
